The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Foundation was founded in Sherie's honor to raise awareness and to fund research for ovarian cancer. The fourth annual event consists of a 10K run/walk, 5K run/walk and a 1-mile family fun walk in Gladstone, OR.

We are pleased to announce that in the past three years we have been able to donate over $107,000.00 to the O.H.S.U. Cancer Institute for gynecologic cancers.

The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Empowerment event is an opportunity for families and businesses, as well as other cancer survivors and supporters from surrounding communities, to come together and make a difference in the lives of those touched with cancer.

Our goal is to raise $85,000.00 for research towards a cure! Please come out and join us

and help support this very worthy cause.

Thank you!

WHY SPONSOR THE EMPOWERMENT WALK?

Founded in Sherie’s honor to raise awareness and to fund research for Ovarian Cancer, the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Empowerment Walk will take place in Gladstone where Sherie Hildreth lives and has worked for the past 28 years. We are excited to announce that in the past two years we were able to donate over $47,000. These proceeds benefit OHSU Cancer Institute, one of the nation’s leading research centers specializing in Ovarian Cancer. The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Empowerment Walk is an opportunity for families and businesses, as well as other survivors, and supporters from surrounding communities, to come together for the cause; our goal is to raise $75,000 for research towards a cure.

In October 2004, Sherie was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and took a leave of absence from teaching to undergo surgery and chemotherapy. Since education has been a major part of her life, she felt a need to understand more about this chronic disease. Sitting still is not Sherie’s style. The more she learned about Ovarian Cancer, the more she was determined not only to survive, but to make a difference in the lives of other women who have also been diagnosed and to educate and promote awareness about Ovarian Cancer. This life altering event motivated Sherie to create a Foundation to promote education and research for the prevention and cure of this disease.

The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Empowerment Walk will be held Saturday morning, August 2, 2008, and consists of a 10K Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Family Fun Walk with a simple message: FIND A CURE!

Here are some facts:

  • Ovarian Cancer occurs in 1 out of 57 women.
  • Approximately 25,000 women were diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer this year in the USA.
  • Of those 25,000 women, approximately 16,000 are expected to die from this disease.
